Н.Костьева, можно занести только фундаментальную статью доктора Роберта Фергюсона "The Use and impact of Chess" - http://www.employees.org/~stannous/chess/ResearchSummary.pdf

Jeremy Silman о книге "CHESS GEMS": "So I opened it up and ... fell in love with it!.. Igor Sukhin has created a thoroughly delightful book that is suitable for players from 1000 to grandmaster. CHESS GEMS serves the reader on several levels: tactical tests, chess history, pure reading enjoyment, fun, and instruction" - http://www.jeremysilman.com/book_reviews_js/Chess_Gems.html

John Elburg о книге "CHESS GEMS": "Even that a majority of the examples in this book are from the end of the twentieth century, I enjoyed the research from Sukhin on combinations between the ninth and fifteenth century, where Sukhin for example included some problems from Luis Ramires Lucena book,Love Resurrected and the Art of playing chess, published around 1497" - http://chessbooks.nl/elburg115.html

The Case for Chess as a Tool to Develop Our Children’s Minds
By Dr Peter Dauvergne
University of Sydney
July, 2000
Abstract
"This article surveys educational and psychological studies to examine the benefits for children of studying and playing chess. These show that chess can
· Raise intelligence quotient (IQ) scores
· Strengthen problem solving skills, teaching how to make difficult and abstract decisions independently
· Enhance reading, memory, language, and mathematical abilities
· Foster critical, creative, and original thinking
· Provide practice at making accurate and fast decisions under time pressure, a skill that can help improve exam scores at school
· Teach how to think logically and efficiently, learning to select the ‘best’ choice from a large number of options
· Challenge gifted children while potentially helping underachieving gifted students learn how to study and strive for excellence
· Demonstrate the importance of flexible planning, concentration, and the consequences of decisions
· Reach boys and girls regardless of their natural abilities or socio-economic backgrounds
Given these educational benefits, the author concludes that chess is one of the most effective teaching tools to prepare children for a world increasingly swamped by information and ever tougher decisions"

1/30/2008 Project ``The Chess in the Rural Schools of Moldova``
Starting September the 1st, 2007, under the patronage of Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and due to the financing received from the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and with the support of the local Federation of Chess of Moldova (FSM), the Project ``Chess in the Rural Schools of Moldova`` started. Now, more than 600 pupils from 15 rural localities of Moldova study chess in schools, being taught by experienced teachers. The localities involved in the project are as follows: Costuleni (Ungheni), Racovat (Soroca), Iargara (Leova), Risipeni (Falesti). Grigorauca (Singerei), Radoaia (Singerei), Draganesti (Singerei), Cuhnesti (Glodeni), Saseni (Calarasi), Rusestii Noi (Ialoveni), Micauti (Straseni), Ciobruciu (Stefan Voda), Valea Perjii (Taraclia), Popestii de Sus (Drochia), Jura (Ribnita), including all the geographical regions of Moldova, even one locality from Transdniestrian region.
All the chess centers received chess materials, necessary for the lessons. Also, in some of the localities, the material is used as a base for local chess clubs, where amateures gather on weekends and play chess. It is a sort of sportive and cultural event that unites the local communities.
On October 12th - 13th 2007, in the capital of Moldova, Chisinau, a seminar for the chess teachers was held in order to increase their professional skills. Also, during a press conference, this project was officialy presented to the mass-media by GM Victor Bologan, who is the director of the project, and who aims to continue sustaining the development of chess in Moldova for the next years, especially in rural areas.
During his visit to Moldova, GM Bologan attended one of the lessons (photo) and was very pleased with the results that the project brings already from the beggining.
All the teachers received special chess manuals for this object, and the pupils received two different copybooks (photo: yellow and green copybooks) with diagrams that will help them understand the game of chess more easily.
During winter, the first inspection started in the schools and the first data about the process of education was gathered. Soon a detailed report, including statistical and methodic data will be available, describing the process of education in rural schools inside this Project.
From the further activities, it can be mentioned: the second seminar that will be held at the end of February 2008, and a lot of activities for the May 2008, as simultaneus games played by international masters in the rural chess centers, a competition with the best young players that will be held in Chisinau, a Week of Chess that should be celebrated in all the localities at the end of the education year (end of May) etc. - http://www.fide.com/news.asp?id=1586

Chess in Schools. On Feb. 25 to 27, there will be an International Conference on Chess in Schools in Turin, Italy. Since we will have such a program in place next school year, it will be a wise investment to attend this very important conference to learn from the experience of other countries.

The theme of the international conference is “Chess: a game to grow up with.” Among the topics to be discussed are 1) The role of chess in the development of the personality of the child, 2) Teaching Chess in Schools-A comparison among different methods and experiences, 3) The role of chess in the development of cognitive abilities.

Among the countries who will discuss their own experiences are Russia, Croatia, Germany, Italy, China, United Arab Emirates, France, and Turkey. - http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/pesta%C3%B1o-armageddon-chess
